Time Art Museum has its name of “the museum on the cloud” which overlooks the Chang’ an Street and Central Business District in Beijing. Comparing to the ballroom of hotels, museum space could provide the auction preview more professional space and exhibiting conditions.
This auction will be divided into two special performances, i.e. Chinese oil paintings and "Arirang - Outstanding art works of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea ", involving a variety of creative forms and styles. Subject matters of the auction are rather broad and rich striving to reflect contemporary status of North Korea Socialist Art and presenting the splendor of contemporary Chinese oil paintings and grand sights of pluralistic development.
In the Chinese Oil Paintings Performance, there are works as the "Man of the Great Northern Wilderness" by Jin Shangyi, “Chord” by Chen Yanning, "Silver Bracelet" by Wang Yidong, "Poppy Flowers" by Chen Yifei, "Under the Sunshine" by Sun Weimin, "At the Moment" by Yu Hong, "Overlooking for the New Century" by Zheng Yi, "Wrapping Glutinous Rice Dumplings " by Fei Zheng and other important works of famous artists, including the " Blossoming Years" by Wang Guobin, “Spring Dawn” by Wang Shaolun and " Embankment " by Li Shanyang, which are the exhibition works on the Eleventh National Art Exhibition, and so on.
More than 150 auction lots ,selected from nearly 2000 works of White Tiger Art Studio, Mansu Art Studio, and the North Korean Central Art Studio etc by Jihuachunqiu Auction Co., Ltd, will be exhibited in "Arirang - Outstanding art works of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea " performance. Many of the works are national-level treasures and represent the highest level of contemporary North Korean art, such as " Ali Guys Series" which is nearly 30 meters-long large-scale oil painting co-authored by several artists, " A Napping Young Long-term Laborer " by Lee Sang Mun which is selected in North Korea's primary school textbooks, " Women in the Nanjiang Village " by Kim Ui Gwan which is familiar with the North Korean people, "Front-line Volunteer of Gaocheng" by Zheng Zhongru, “ The Old Man of Nakdong River” by Lee Chang, "Happiness" by Kang Jeong Ho and other well-known works in North Korea since 1950s.
North Korea oil paintings are well influenced by traditional Russian paintings in 1950s, which is the same as Chinese oil paintings, and many North Korean artists have pursued advanced studies in the former Soviet Union Leningrad Repin Fine Arts Academy, thus, the creation of realistic method is the direct successor. Through these works, we can see that the North Korean artists not only mastered the Soviet-style oil painting technique, but also we can see many North Korean artists have absorbed more oil painting techniques and methods and created their own national style paintings with efforts. Resisting the impact of materialistic values, North Korea's socialist cultural and artistic committee creates a national form and revolutionary art with socialist content. Through the artist's picture, we can see the North Korean people have gone through a difficult process, and scenes of life and mental outlook are to build their homes with all efforts. Also, we can feel the strong national consciousness and state consciousness of North Korean, which is the lack and loss of the Chinese contemporary avant-garde art. From a historical sense, a number of works like "Ali Guys Series " have a high degree of the arts history and sociology. As time goes on, these paintings must be cherished cultural relics of a special period in the Korean Peninsula and have values as epic.
Democratic People's Republic of Korea is the last piece of virgin land with mysterious and treasure to be developed in the world's art market. As gradual opening up of North Korea, the spring of North Korea's art market will eventually come. From 1960s to 1970s, many of the best and the most important works of art of our country, especially the precious artifacts flowed out abroad, while people thought they are not as important as foreign currencies, even as grain coupon, clothing coupon, cooking oil coupon and vegetables coupon .All the senior collector had bitter regret experience. Now, facing with the North Korea Arts works with no concept of market, on the one hand, Beijing Jihuachunqiu Auction Co., Ltd. places hopes to enhance non-governmental friendship and exchanges of Chinese and North Korean artists, and to make Chinese artists have a clear understanding of "crying wolf" crisis for art market. On the other hand, it will make collectors find the ignored and enormous valued North Korean art, and recognize that so-called "contemporary art" and any system deficiencies promoted by the United States can not take the place or curb the growth and development of the arts of great nation with thousands of years of civilization history.
